The Friends of the Santa Barbara Cloud Forest, an ecotourism organization, was organized with the mission to conserve the natural environment and improve the lives of the local people in the area of San Luis Planes by promoting ecotourism and training the local population. This area is located within the buffer zone of Santa Barbara Mountain National Park.
